What Is Wellness Really? Dismantling the Rules That Never Served Us

Wellness has been marketed to women as a flawless routine, a smaller dress size, or the next green smoothie trend. But let’s be honest — that version of “healthy” was never designed to serve us. It was built to control us.

In this post (and the podcast episode that inspired it), we’re pulling back the curtain on the noise and rewriting the script. Real wellness doesn’t ask you to shrink — it invites you to expand.


We’ve Been Sold a Lie

Wellness, for decades, has been shaped by systems that benefit from women feeling not enough. From postpartum “bounce-backs” to anti-aging obsessions, we’ve been taught that the goal is to fix ourselves.

But guess what?

There is nothing wrong with you.

What we’ve been conditioned to believe is “self-care” is often rooted in:

  • ✖️ Misogyny

  • ✖️ Perfectionism

  • ✖️ Guilt-based motivation

  • ✖️ External validation

That kind of wellness doesn’t lead to peace — it leads to burnout and disconnection.

It’s Time for a New Definition of Wellness

We’re done chasing unrealistic ideals. Real, soul-deep wellness looks and feels different.

It’s:

  • 🌿 Compassionate, not controlling

  • 🌿 Flexible, not rigid

  • 🌿 Supportive, not performative

  • 🌿 About listening to your body, not punishing it

You don’t have to earn rest. You don’t have to prove your worth through hustle. And you definitely don’t have to be everything to everyone.


Real Wellness Honors YOU

This isn’t about a perfect routine — it’s about reclaiming your relationship with your body and your life.

You get to:

  • Reimagine what health looks like for you

  • Release shame and outdated rules

  • Prioritize nourishment, rest, and pleasure

  • Rebuild trust with your body
